Web-Based Map Services

Much of the existing data for areas around the world has been collected by different sources for a variety of unrelated purposes. Any given area is likely to have an assortment of data ranging from coarse data such from national scale datasets, to high-resolution, high accuracy local data surveys. Integrating available sources into one seamless high quality dataset within a consistent geospatial framework requires processing to account for differences in format, resolution, accuracy, datum, units, and projection. ASA’s Web-Based Mapping Services software is developed to maximize interoperability and to provide automated and interactive data fusion tools to generate a single dataset for output and analysis. ASA’s tools allow for the homegenization of a wide variety of data types, including formats stored in databases (Oracle, MSSQL, or through ArcSDE), XML/HTTP protocols, or file format data storage (ASCII, NetCDF). Subsequently blending the data based on user-defined accuracy assessments, automatically accounts for differences in projection, datum, and units and outputs. ASA’s tools are particularly useful for working in large areas with disparate datasets as they allow high resolution data in developed areas, where local data may be available, and lower resolution data in more remote areas can be fused into a single dataset for input in to one seamless, interoperable system.

ASA delivers data in standards that conform to the Open Geospatial Consortium’s specifications for Web Mapping Services, Web Feature Services, and Web Coverage Services. Data outputs from the ASA systems meet standardized protocols and are able to be ingested in industry standard desktop GIS software (i.e., ESRI) as well as widely accepted web based GIS tools (i.e., Google Maps through KML).
